FAQ's about Permanent Makeup (Cosmetic Tatooing):

Since the time of Ancient Egypt, people have used cosmetic tattooing to enhance beauty, refine the placement of color on the face and provide a more lasting and durable form of "make-up".  The shape of one's eyes and the color of one's lips are infinitely alterable under the tattoo needle and ink.  The recent progress in the stability of ink (color) has allowed a far more predictable result when applying color to the skin of people who desire to create a more attractive appearance.  The effects of time upon a tattoo are far more subtle than they used to be.

  1. What is permanent makeup (cosmetic tatooing)?  The application of tattooing is simply the placement of pigments (inks) within the layers of the skin.  The deeper placement generally equates with longer lasting tattoo's.  Initially the tattoo is made intentionally darker because the body will reject a significant portion of the ink during the first 2 weeks.
  2. Who would be a good candidate for Permanent Makeup?  Permanent Makeup is perfect for busy people who would like to reclaim some more of their day.  It is also perfect for those who have light or sparse eyebrows, sensitive eyes, poorly defined lips or anyone who just wants to accent their skin.  In addition, we have developed a treatment to make hair appear more dense, thicker and more real.  Our treatment for balding, thinning or fine hair is revolutionary.  It is also perfect for those who want to hide any scars they have.
  3. How long does the procedure take?  Generally, the procedure takes about an hour.  The process of cosmetic tattooing is very artistic.  It cannot be rushed, replicated by another, nor can it be obtained from every practitioner.  The ultimate goal of cosmetic tattooing should be to be to provide the daily foundation of beauty, both color and shape, which best suits the face of the wearer.  Your artist needs to understand the shape of your face as well as your coloration.  Scalp hair tattooing requires longer periods of time, dependent upon the size of the area involved.
  4. What does the procedure involve?  The procedure involves applying an anesthetic followed by outlining the treatment area with tattoo dots.  Then filling the outlined area with a realistic appearing density of tattoo dots.
  5. Will I need any touch-ups?  Occasionally, it will be necessary to perform a "touch-up" to even out areas that rejected more of the ink color.  "Touch-ups" are performed free of charge for the first 4 months following initial treatment.
  6. What will I look like immediately following the procedure?  There is a small possibility of bruising, which will resolve in a few days and there will be swelling which will mostly resolve after one hour and almost completely by two days.
  7. Can I go back to work after the procedure?  Yes, however, you will have some swelling and the color will be more pronounced (darker ) for the first few days up to two weeks.
